On June 26 and 27, 2014, the SafeLine Partner meeting took place again. The meeting was organized by SafeLine Sweden in Stockholm. Among roughly 60 participants from 13 European countries were, besides SafeLine representatives, also manufacturers of lift components, operators of emergency call service centers, as well as users and consultants.
This year the Schwelmer Symposium will take place on June 23-24. 21 speakers will hold presentations on the subject of “Modern Technology in a Lift” again.
Jörg Hellmich will hold a presentation on modern display systems in lifts and elaborate on the possibilities presenting themselves as a result of linking lifts and the internet.
Last March Rosa participated in the Leonardo da Vinci Program Excellence Award of the University of Navarra with this video of her internship at ELFIN.
A few years ago the Verband für Aufzugstechnik (VFA, Association for Elevator Technology) established an expert pool, which is available for members via the VFA office to consult about specific topics. In this body several experts are available for VFA members to answer questions in their area of expertise. On March 4, 2014, Jörg Hellmich was admitted to the expert pool. We are looking forward to a successful cooperation.
On April 3rd 2014 the working group norms of the VFA met to develop and provide the members with an overview of changes to norms and guidelines in the elevator industry. After pointing to the upcoming ‘Product Category Rules for Lifts’ (PCR 4354) and information regarding the shutdown of the analogue telephone network, the newly adopted elevator guideline ‘AufzRL 2014/33/EU’ and the upcoming EN 81 20/50 were the main focus.
Jörg Hellmich informed the attendees about the recent developments and the upcoming changes of the guideline VDI 6013 (Information Exchange with other Installations of the Technical Building Equipment), which is currently in the process of revision.
Following the tradition, Bosch Sicherheitssysteme and Safeline Germany invited to an informal event in the Insel-Hotel Heilbronn on Monday the 10th of March of 2014 the evening before the 'Heilbronner Aufzugtage'.

From February the 1st of 2014 the new European payment system SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) will be complusory in Europe, facilitating and unifiying the cashless payments.
ELFIN GmbH has adopted the SEPA system, transferring all existing bank accounts to the SEPA format.
From October the 15th to 18th of 2013, the lift industry met again in the biggest specialized fair of the lift technic in Augsburg. ELFIN was there this year for the first time, however not yet with an own stand but as a part of the CiA stand with our new products based on CANopen-Lift.
Just in time the CANopen-Lift image video was ready to be presented to the interested public on the CAN in Automation stand at Interlift 2013. The video shows graphically the advantages of open standards for installers and operators. You can find the CANopen-Lift image video online at Youtube now.
On the 9th of September of 2013 Rosa Lorenzo our new Spanish intern arrived at ELFIN. We were waiting for her “mañana, mañana” but she surprised us arriving punctual as a Swiss clock at 8.30.
Originally from Ferrol, in the Atlantic coast of Spain, she studied Business Administration at the Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona and after a few months in London and one year as an au pair in Zurich she decided to come to Cologne to experience German business culture. At ELFIN Rosa will on the one hand support the marketing team in some technology projects and on the other hand lead her own HR project.
This year fo the first time ELFIN took part on the HRS BusinessRun Cologne 2013.
Together with 15,000 other runners from more than 850 companies we were able to enjoy the unique atmosphere in the sunshine and the summer temperatures. The run finished in the Rhein Energie Stadium and we enjoyed the evening program in the BusinessRun Village with live music. We are looking forward to next year, when we will once again „Laufe, fiere, danze!“.
ELFIN took part this year, for the first time, with 9 participants on the HRS BusinessRun Cologne 2013.
The second meeting of the marketing group CANopen-Lift, aiming to create an Imagevideo, took place at ELFIN GmbH on the 21st of June of 2013. The video, which should explain the advantages of CANopen-Lift in a comprehensive and easily to understand approach, will be ready soon and will be shown at different websites and events.
The Schwelmer Symposium took place on the 10th and 11th of June 2013. 19 experts presented this year their ideas. Among them, Jörg Hellmich made his contribution with "M2M - Internet of Things". The connection of machines via the internet is considered the 4th industrial revolution. Firstly, he exposed the technical basis and the current developments on the internet technologies. To conclude, he gave an overview about the possibilities and risks of the use of the machines and lifts through the internet.
